We now provide day activities for approximately 9 individuals over the age of 21 who live in the community but who would not otherwise have regular activities that are meaningful. The needs and objectives met through this program vary with the individual. It may be to provide skill training, a purpose to their days, community involvement or physical activity. These are all important to the development of self-esteem and intrinsic worth. |
|
| This program has proven to be immensely successful and provides peace of mind to the affected families, knowing that their family member is being provided with therapeutic and recreational activities on a regular basis. | |
|
Due to the limited funds available, the number of people able to be supported will depend on their level of need. The person must be identified by the community planning process, in conjunction with Contact Brant, as the most in need. |

Modified Respite Program Brantwood also provides a modified respite service, currently run every other Saturday at Brantwood's main facility. This program, too, gives community individuals and families a much needed break. |

Other Programs (other than Brantwood) held at 25 Bell Lane In 2002, Brantwood embarked on a joint venture with Lansdowne Children's Centre to offer weekend respite for children with high needs. Funding from the Ministry of Community and Social Services has allowed for the renovation and operation of a section of the Centre which has been transformed into a "lodge-like" setting and is home to "The Kids Country Inn." This program not only provides the much needed respite for the families but the children are also able to take advantage of all of the recreational facilities while they are visiting for the weekend. |

| In January 2004, Crossing All Bridges Learning Centre held their grand opening, in the remaining 2nd floor space at Brantwood's main facility. "CAB" was created to provide a unique and appropriate Learning Centre for dependent adults on a daily basis within a safe and stable environment. For more information, call the Learning Centre at (519) 751-0123. | |
