Legacy Giving

 Remembering Brantwood Community Services in your will or financial plans is a lasting way to ensure that Brantwood continues to provide people with disabilities with the services they need now and in the future. Planned Gifts are made through a bequest, life insurance policy, securities, trust funds and RRSPs. Please contact our Foundation Office to discuss your Bequest or please feel free to download our Bequest Confirmation Form. Your Legacy Gift will ensure that Brantwood continues to be a place of hope for people with disabilities in our community.

Types of Bequests

 Residual Bequest

A Residual Bequest is a gift of all or a percentage of the residue of an estate, and is distributed (paid out) after specific bequest.

 Sample wording: “My estate trustees shall pay ______% of the residue of my estate to the Brantwood Community Services Foundation, Brantford, ON, for the purpose of supporting the highest priority needs as determined by the Foundation.”

 “I give to Brantwood Community Services fifty percent (50%) of the remainder of my estate, to be used for the general purposes of said charity.”

 

Specific Bequest

A Specific Bequest is a gift of specific amount or property, and is distributed (paid out) by the executor prior to other bequests.

 Sample wording: “My estate trustees shall pay the sum of $____ (or transfer assets with an equal value) to the Brantwood Community Services Foundation, Brantford, ON, for the purpose of supporting the highest priority needs as determined by the Foundation.

 “I give to Brantwood Community Services all of my shares in XYZ Mutual Fund to be used for the general purposes of the Charity.”
